From a Mediterranean-style beach house in Chennai to an art collector’s bungalow in Bengaluru, here are the 10 most popular houses on AD India in May.
A Home Shaped by Stillness — Pune

Named Neervi for the clients’ young daughter, this 2,800-square-foot Pune apartment by Shrutika Raut of srds | shrutika raut design studio celebrates serenity and transformation. The South Indian family of parents, daughters, and grandparents wanted familiarity with a modern twist. Instead of making grand gestures, the house evolves gently, influenced by light, wind, and everyday rhythms. Classic details subtly meld in without an air of staging, producing a warm, peaceful space that gradually reveals itself over the years.
A Silk Tapestry of Culture Interwoven — Mysore

This 6,100-square-foot Mysore home echoes Mysore’s rich history of mulberry silk sarees, belonging to collector Anita Bose. Studio AS founder Anchal Shamanur blended vintage opulence with contemporary simplicity, building an emotional abode where old silk sarees encourage art and architecture. Indian, colonial, and Parisian styles come together in the design, with a bold bar covered in silk fabric and bright ikat fabrics in the master bedroom — a lovely conversation of culture and style.
A Perfect Picture of Eden — Kochi

Design Narrative’s pair, Dhiya Anna Charley and Thomas Joseph, designed a timelessness bungalow in Kochi for Nikin and Tany, a pair with contrasting tastes. Merging the warmth of old houses with contemporary refinement, the home achieves a balance of heat and refinement. Natural elements such as Kota stone floors and raw concrete walls form down-to-earth textures. An elegant metal and glass door connects the living area to the pool area, where the gentle sound of water compliments the peaceful ambiance.
A Curation of Timeless Design — Hyderabad

Overlooking a lake, in a mango orchard, this 8,350-square-foot villa for siblings Kaushik and Akhila was designed by AD100 architect Sona Reddy. The house celebrates minimalism that is imbued with emotional resonance and cultural relevance. Employing honest materials like wood, stone, and lime plaster, the villa offsets simplicity with depth of color and texture to create a calm family retreat away from city life.
