Let’s be honest — keeping your home clean all the time? Feels impossible. Even Ree Drummond (yep, The Pioneer Woman herself) has joked that a once-a-week clean counts as a win. But here’s the good news: a solid spring cleaning session can seriously lighten the load for the rest of the year.

We pulled together expert tips, gentle cleaning tricks, and a few time-saving hacks that are easy on your wallet — and your arms.

1. Polish stainless steel with olive oil

Tired of staring at grimy bathroom grout? Mix 2 parts baking soda with 1 part hydrogen peroxide to make a thick paste. Scrub it on with an old toothbrush, wait 10 minutes, and rinse. It’s safe for your tiles and doesn’t smell like a chemistry lab.

2. Clean oven racks in the bathtub

No one wants to think about it, but pillows collect all kinds of gross stuff — dust mites, sweat, allergens. The American Cleaning Institute says washing them every few months keeps things fresh. Use a mild detergent, gentle cycle, and make sure they’re totally dry to avoid that musty smell (or worse — mold).

3. Wash bed pillows in the washing machine

Oven racks are the worst. But here’s a trick from pro cleaners: toss them in your tub with warm soapy water and a couple of dryer sheets. Let them soak for 6–8 hours. The anti-static magic in the sheets breaks down the gunk, so you can scrub way less.

4. Scrub grout with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide

If your fridge or stove looks like it’s been through a war zone of fingerprints, olive oil can help. Just put a few drops on a soft cloth and rub in circles. It brings back the shine and helps keep prints at bay. Who knew salad dressing could multitask?
