Masculine interiors often get labeled as cold, minimal, or overly rigid. But with the right mix of textures, materials, and colors, a well-planned masculine space can feel warm, stylish, and inviting. A recent Decorilla project showcases exactly that—a modern male apartment transformed into a cohesive, functional, and personality-filled home. Here’s a closer look at how the makeover unfolded.

The Challenge: Creating a Masculine, Cohesive Apartment

The client had recently moved into a bright and spacious apartment with expansive windows and stunning views. However, his existing furniture felt mismatched, too small for the open layout, and visually disconnected. He needed a design that could:

  • Highlight the floor-to-ceiling windows and maximize the view
  • Create a cohesive flow throughout the open-concept layout
  • Provide a home office that could double as a guest room
  • Introduce stylish yet practical masculine design elements

Design Inspiration: Curating a Modern, Masculine Vision

The client shared an inspiration gallery filled with sleek, contemporary spaces featuring streamlined furniture, strong silhouettes, and plenty of visual balance. The goal was a modern aesthetic that remained comfortable, functional, and cohesive from room to room.

After reviewing the brief, two Decorilla designers presented initial concepts. Each created mood boards that reflected bold yet refined masculine apartment ideas. Ultimately, designer Drew F. stood out for his sophisticated approach, smart space planning, and effortless alignment with the client’s taste.

The Transformation: A Modern Male Apartment Designed for Comfort & Style

Living Room: Modern, Social, and View-Focused

Drew selected a slim-profile sectional paired with charcoal swivel chairs—perfect for both conversation and turning toward the panoramic windows. A modern coffee table and low media unit kept the visual weight low, allowing the view to remain the focal point.

A large abstract art piece added vibrancy without overwhelming the space. Previously, the living room felt empty and undersized; after the redesign, it finally matched the scale of the open layout.

Blue accent ottomans now offer additional seating and introduce a subtle pop of color.

Dining Area: Sleek and Airy

The initial idea was a marble dining table, but after discussions with the client, Drew switched to a transparent glass-top table. This helped maintain visual lightness and enhanced flow between the living and dining spaces. Upholstered dining chairs provided contrast and balanced the room’s clean lines with comfortable texture.

Home Office + Guest Room: Productive, Stylish, and Multi-Functional

A smaller side room became the ideal dual-purpose space. The client’s existing desk, office chair, and sofa were seamlessly integrated.

The layout allowed the sleeper sofa to function as guest accommodation while maintaining a distinct workspace. Bookshelves displayed the client’s antique collection, and greenery brought in warmth. Strategic decor ensured the office remained focused and uncluttered—especially useful during long study or work sessions.

Bedroom: Cozy, Neutral, and View-Oriented

The bedroom already had a great foundation with the client’s bed frame, dresser, and nightstands. Drew tied everything together with:

  • A plush area rug
  • Soft, warm table lamps
  • A calming wall art piece
  • Blackout curtains for restful sleep
  • A streamlined bench by the windows to enjoy morning views

The result is a serene retreat that feels both masculine and relaxing.

Design Details: Sourcing Made Simple

Every Decorilla client receives a complete shopping list with direct links and exclusive discounts that often exceed the cost of the design service. A concierge team coordinates ordering and delivery, making the entire decorating process smooth and stress-free.
